Position OverviewFugro is looking for a Marine Survey Specialist to enhance our Marine Asset Integrity division. This team is dedicated to offshore Positioning, Survey Construction (PCS), and Inspection projects on a global scale.
As a Marine Survey Specialist, you will play a crucial role within the Offshore Survey Team, focusing on the mobilization and operation of positioning and survey equipment. Your responsibilities will include the acquisition and quality assurance of data collected onboard offshore vessels. This position offers a diverse range of tasks, allowing you to set up, test, and operate advanced survey and positioning systems, including Fugro's Vision Technology and Low Logistics Autonomous Underwater Vehicle. Additionally, you will be involved in collecting, organizing, and presenting results from various survey sensors.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute positioning and navigation tasks while managing projects of low complexity;
- Ensure accurate offsets, measurements, and calibrations of positioning equipment, as well as the setup and operation of survey tools;
- Conduct survey data acquisition, including computations, in-field data processing, and report compilation;
- Oversee the quality control of data, computations, and reports;
- Perform administrative tasks, including the creation of project procedures and maintaining a comprehensive logbook;
- BSc. degree in Hydrographic Surveying, Geodetic Surveying, or a related field, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience;
- Previous offshore experience across various survey projects and a willingness to work offshore for approximately 195 days annually;
- Experience in the calibration and verification of survey sensors for both surface and subsea positioning, along with proficiency in the setup and operation of commonly used survey sensors such as GNSS, Gyro, MRU, USBL, and ideally MBES, USBL, LBL INS, and Digital Video;
- Strong understanding of real-time positioning principles, data acquisition, and data quality control, with proficiency in online survey software;
- Excellent problem-solving skills, a proactive attitude towards technical challenges, and strong communication abilities in English (both written and spoken).
