Firefighter (Aircraft Rescue)

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firefighter (Aircraft Rescue) to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Firefighter (Aircraft Rescue), you will be responsible for providing emergency response services for multiple sites within the Army installation, including diverse fire hazards such as highly flammable liquids, high explosives, and radioactive materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to emergency situations, including fires, hazardous material incidents, and other high-risk situations.
  • Operate firefighting equipment, including aerial ladders, hoses, and extinguishers.
  • Participate in training exercises to maintain and improve skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders, including Host Nation Fire Departments, to provide a unified response to emergencies.
  • Perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, climbing, and crawling, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • German certification as basic firefighter (abgeschlossene Feuerwehrgrundausbildung, gemaess Feuerwehrdienstvorschrift 2 (FwDV2)) required.
  • Completed training in accordance with the guidelines of the US Forces Fire Prevention Program required.
  • Host nation equivalent National Emergency Medical Technician (NEMT) certification required.
  • DoD certification as Firefighter I & II, Driver Operator Pumper, DOD HAZMAT operations, Host Nation SCBA certification (Ausbildung zum Atemschutzgeraetetraeger gem. FwDV 2), and radio communicator training (Ausbildung zum Sprechfunker gem. FwDV2) required.

Working Conditions:

  • Work on Holidays and Weekends as well as 24-hours shift work required.
  • Heavy lifting up to 80 lbs. required.
  • Occasionally TDY (temporary duty) required.
