Position: Toolmaker in Aviation (f/m/d)

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will report to the Manufacturing Lab leader and engage in various projects to support our production efforts.
As a Toolmaker, your duties will include operating a range of machinery, such as manual lathes, manual milling machines, surface grinders, and 3-axis CNC machines. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining the precision and quality of our aerospace tooling and components. Additionally, you will collaborate with the manufacturing engineering team to implement efficient and streamlined solutions for part production and tooling design.

Daily Tasks
  • Manage all operations in the manual machine shop, including the use of manual lathes, milling machines, surface grinders, and CNC milling machines to create high-quality components per engineering specifications.
  • Assemble small components and systems according to work instructions to ensure proper fit and functionality.
  • Work on complex prototypes and production components, as well as tooling and fixtures for our innovative products.
  • Inspect machined parts and assemblies using precision measuring tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and resolve issues during machining and assembly, making necessary adjustments.
  • Assist in selecting materials based on strength, weight, and industry standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of machining, welding, cutting, and assembly activities.
  • Follow safety protocols, perform equipment maintenance, and promote a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and contribute to project success.
Your Qualifications
  • Educational background in toolmaking, fitting, industrial mechanics, or similar fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Toolmaking and Machining is required.
  • Experience in the aerospace sector or prototype environments is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with CNC machining is beneficial (Mazatrol SmoothX).
  • Ability to interpret complex documentation and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding technical drawings and work instructions.
  • Experience in creating project-related documentation for the fabrication of various parts and assemblies.
  • Self-reliant with the capability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines and manage urgent tasks.
  • Basic proficiency in English is required; knowledge of German is a plus.
