Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Senior Plant Manager with a Medical Device ISO13485 background to support our BMT, Germany location. As a key member of our operations organization, you will work closely with the Senior Global Director Operation to lead the operations team, manage performance objectives, and support business strategy. This role requires a hands-on leader who can drive operational excellence, improve productivity, and ensure the highest standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage all aspects of the plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality, and safety.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to improve plant performance and achieve operational goals.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork among staff.
- Oversee assembly, ensuring optimal machine performance (OEE) and product quality.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and take corrective actions to address any deviations.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Maintain high standards of product quality and implement quality control measures.
- Work closely with the quality assurance team to address any quality issues and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and manage the plant budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet production targets and customer demands.
- Oversee maintenance activities to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
- Recruit, train, and develop plant personnel to build a high-performing team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback and coaching to employees.
- Promote a positive work environment and address any employee concerns promptly.
- Identify areas of inefficiency and develop comprehensive growth plans.
- Execute growth initiatives, including process improvements, cost reduction strategies, and workforce optimization.
- Track and report progress on growth efforts to senior management.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a plant management role within the medical device industry. Career progression in manufacturing or engineering functions, from production, engineering, to plant operations.
- Proven track record of successfully turning around plants and driving operational improvements.
- Experience at inspiring/leading large teams, driving team development and performance, ensuring a high level of employee engagement.
- Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to analyze complex problems, develop effective solutions, and implement change.
- Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced, high-energy team-oriented environment.
- Proficient knowledge of ERP systems and other manufacturing software.
- Demonstrated success delivering results in a matrix organization.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, as well as facilitation experience.
- Excellent communication and networking skills.
- Cross-culture and international experience preferred.
