As a Cargo Operations Manager stationed in Frankfurt, you will serve as the primary liaison for all matters related to Etihad Cargo. Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing cargo warehouse operations and supervising freighter ramp activities at designated locations. You will be tasked with planning and monitoring key operations, routes, and products, focusing on performance metrics such as On-Time Performance (OTP), electronic Air Waybill (eAWB), Cargo iQ, Service Level Agreements (SLA), and more. Your goal will be to guarantee the safe, secure, and timely delivery of all significant shipments.
Key Responsibilities- Enhance and maintain freighter OTP in a challenging operational environment by managing all tasks related to ramp coordination and supervision of freighter activities.
- Implement best practices to achieve revenue targets while supporting service delivery, cost-efficiency, and adherence to safety and security regulations.
- Maximize flight capacities through effective reviews of processes and procedures, aiming to reduce operational discrepancies and offloads. You will also support the planning and execution of complex cargo loads for both passenger and freighter operations.
- Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to Ground Handling Agent (GHA) staff to elevate their skills and knowledge, ensuring compliance with all Etihad protocols and regulatory standards regarding safety, security, and Dangerous Goods.
- Oversee service delivery at designated stations in accordance with SGHA/SLA agreements and measure performance through KPIs, Cargo iQ, and eAWB metrics.
- Exhibit flexibility in operational shifts and be prepared to perform various roles as needed, emphasizing continuous professional development.
- Be prepared to undertake ad-hoc tasks at other network stations to support diverse initiatives and expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Health, Security, and Safety protocols.
- Manage special services and VIP shipments from acceptance through to customer delivery.
- Handle financial tasks such as raising Purchase Requests (PR), Purchase Orders (PO), and Goods Receipt Notes (GRN) in SAP, while verifying supplier invoices for accuracy and compliance with contracts.
- Make informed operational decisions to manage and mitigate safety and security risks associated with assigned tasks, escalating significant risks to the appropriate management level.
- Minimum high school education, preferably with a diploma in logistics, operations management, or a related field, specializing in cargo handling operations.
- Completion of cargo and dangerous goods training is essential, along with courses in special products, aircraft weight and balance, and general cargo procedures.
- A minimum of three years of experience in cargo operations, including handling freighters and managing teams and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of airfreight specifications, industry standards, and legal regulations.
- Training in Dangerous Goods, Special Products, Cargo Operations, Safety and Security, and weight and balance is advantageous.
- Thorough knowledge of cargo handling processes, procedures, and regulatory compliance expectations.
- Experience with cargo handling systems, messaging requirements, and manual handling systems, as well as familiarity with freighter aircraft.
- Understanding of budgetary controls related to cargo handling at network stations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
