Senior Litigation Attorney

The City of Tucson seeks a highly skilled and experienced Principal Assistant City Attorney to join our team. As a key member of our Internal Litigation Unit, you will provide advanced-level legal services and support to the City's litigation efforts.

• Litigate complex legal matters in federal and state courts, primarily in tort litigation and federal civil rights (Section 1983) litigation.
• Support litigation efforts by performing research, preparing and filing pleadings, making court appearances, and trying cases.
• Engage in legal analysis and provide advice to support the City's Risk Management efforts.
• Advise Risk Management and various City departments to reduce the City's liability exposure.

• Juris doctorate degree (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Five (5) years of directly related experience in civil and/or criminal law.
• Member in good standing - State Bar of Arizona.

• Government law practice experience, including a working knowledge of the legal subject matters involved with civil litigation in a municipal law practice.
• Civil litigation experience.
