Role Overview
We are in search of a talented and forward-thinking System Engineer specializing in Power Distribution to become a vital part of our engineering team. In this role, you will ensure that both high voltage and low voltage power distribution systems and their components comply with performance, safety, and certification standards. Your expertise will be crucial in drafting and evaluating design documentation, testing protocols, and compliance reports necessary for the certification and operation of the Power Distribution System, while ensuring seamless integration with the aircraft's electrical, mechanical, thermal, and logical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with fellow Power Distribution System Engineers to manage the development of high voltage and low voltage components, including power centers, circuit breaker panels, emergency battery systems, and control panels. Responsibilities will be shared among team members based on expertise and project needs.
- Create and review design documentation, including requirements specifications and compliance analysis for the Power Distribution System.
- Develop and assess Electrical and Communication Interface Control Documents relevant to the Power Distribution System.
- Oversee the release of Power Distribution System components and their integration into the Aircraft Engineering Bill of Materials.
- Document compliance and non-compliance issues related to aerospace standards and regulations, ensuring adherence to industry benchmarks.
- Work alongside certification engineers to align design and development activities with certification requirements.
- Evaluate supplier technical documentation for compliance and address any discrepancies based on sound technical judgment.
- Assist safety engineers in understanding system dynamics for safety assessments, including reviews of failure modes.
- Partner with the testing and verification team to outline test plans and ensure thorough validation of electrical designs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in the aerospace sector or similar complex systems development, particularly in electrical system design and integration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of aerospace standards and regulations, including SC-VTOL, ARP-4754, DO-254, DO-178, and DO-160.
- Proficiency in requirements management tools and systems engineering methodologies.
- Ability to draft and critique engineering documentation, including design specifications and test plans.
- Fluent in English.
Preferred Skills:
- Deep understanding of aviation electrical components, including fuses, circuit breakers, and converters.
- Strong grasp of electrical monitoring systems and methodologies.
- Familiarity with safety regulations concerning high voltage components in aerospace.
- Experience with engineering simulation and design software.
- Knowledge of emerging electrical technologies in the aerospace field.
- Understanding of communication systems and their integration within power distribution frameworks.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering principles.
