Airport Fire Station Dispatcher

{"h2": "Airport Fire Station Dispatcher", "p": "As a key member of the U.S. Army Europe and Africa team, you will serve as a dispatcher at the USAG Fire Alarm Communications and Control Center. Your primary responsibility will be to operate the electronically controlled emergency desk, receiving and responding to fire and other emergency calls. You will utilize established questioning techniques and active listening skills to acquire all necessary information for effective alarm assignment and response. Your knowledge of response capabilities and procedures of each responding unit will be crucial in analyzing situations and selecting the proper alarm assignment. You will dispatch all required responders, including U.S. Army fire department, host nation fire mutual aid departments, and emergency medical services providers. Your role will also involve activating remotely facility systems and constantly monitoring and re-evaluating situations based on additional incoming information. You will be the primary reach-back hub for on-scene commanders, dispatching additional responders or personnel as needed. Your duties will also include aircrash dispatch and coordination of search and rescue operations around the airfield. You will be responsible for performing administrative office work and maintaining fire reporting procedures. You will also be required to participate in a physical fitness program and undergo periodic medical examinations. You must possess a German driver's license class B and meet the language proficiency requirements of English C1 and German C2.

Requirements

  • Minimum Basic Requirements: E&T Level I (completed lower secondary school / Hauptschulabschluss) PLUS German certification as basic fire fighter (abgeschlossene Feuerwehrgrundausbildung, gemaess Feuerwehrdienstvorschrift 2 (FwDV2))
  • PLUS completed training in accordance with the guidelines of the US Forces Fire Protection Program
  • Current employees who do not meet the basic educational requirement above and who are not in the same or similar occupation must have 2 years of creditable general experience
  • General Experience: Any work that demonstrates the ability to follow directions and to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures and that otherwise demonstrate the ability to perform or learn to perform the duties of the position
  • HN radio communicator training (Ausbildung zum Sprechfunker gem. FwDV2), dispatcher (FEZ Grundlehrgang) and DoD Hazmat Awareness, Telecommunicator I and II within 1 year of final job offer
