Senior Engineer for Utility-scale Battery Storage Solutions

YOUR ROLE
As a seasoned professional in the Transmission and Distribution sector, you will play a crucial role in advancing our power system initiatives. Our focus is on assisting clients in navigating the complexities of planning and operating power systems in a reliable, sustainable, and efficient manner. Our clientele includes Transmission System Operators (TSOs), regulatory authorities, energy producers, industrial entities, and project developers worldwide. Your responsibilities will encompass:
- Managing projects independently while collaborating with functional managers
- Preparing necessary reports, documentation, and correspondence related to projects
- Overseeing contract administration and managing claims
- Contributing technical expertise throughout all project phases, including planning, design, procurement, implementation, supervision, and commissioning
- Coordinating interfaces with various disciplines involved in large-scale transmission and distribution projects (civil, mechanical, topographical, health & safety, environmental, etc.) and other stakeholders
- Taking on an expert role in various activities, from project delivery to mentoring junior staff

YOUR PROFILE
- Master's degree in electrical engineering (MSc/Dipl.-Ing.), additional qualifications are a plus
- Proficient in English with strong written communication skills in contractual and technical contexts; proficiency in other languages (German, French, Dutch, Spanish) is advantageous
- Willingness to travel internationally (approximately one week per month)
- Dynamic, creative, and enthusiastic about high-level expertise and teamwork
- Experience in presenting and defending project outcomes to clients and engaging with various stakeholders (clients, partners, subcontractors, authorities, TSOs, etc.)
- Preferably, prior experience in technical consulting/engineering and international work
Specific Requirements:
- Extensive theoretical knowledge of electrical engineering and at least 10 years of practical project experience, including site supervision of electrical installations
- Design experience in electrical transmission and distribution systems (e.g., high voltage substations, protection and control systems, SCADA, telecommunications, high voltage overhead lines, and cables), capable of defining scopes of work, preparing bills of quantities, and drafting tender documents in the area of expertise, familiar with relevant international standards
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in projects related to utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Experience in conducting site and factory acceptance tests for electrical equipment and/or BESS, including site acceptance and commissioning (particularly for BESS containers and associated balance of plant equipment)
- Knowledge of battery energy storage systems, including system topologies, applicable terminologies, and performance criteria (technical/contractual). Ability to stay informed about the latest trends in the energy storage sector, including writing prefeasibility studies, basic designs, and technical specifications, as well as understanding key BESS equipment and subsystems (Li-ion batteries, power conversion systems, MV/LV transformers, general balance of plant) and evaluating vendor solutions for tender comparisons
