Position Overview

At GfK, retail data is essential to our operations, providing invaluable insights and market intelligence. By collaborating with us, retailers can access comprehensive sales data from one of the largest sales panels globally, which has been in operation since 1934, encompassing 130,000 partners and monitoring over 10 million SKUs with a total sales volume of $1.16 trillion.

The Junior Consultant for Retail Partner Acquisition (m/f/d) serves as the primary liaison between GfK and retailers who are not currently engaged with our services in Germany.

Ideal candidates will possess experience in business development, sales, or key account management, complemented by strong interpersonal abilities. These skills will be crucial in demonstrating the advantages of GfK's Retail Partner Program to potential clients.

This role is responsible for securing data partnership agreements and ensuring the provision of tailored data from retailers, merchants, and other data sources that are not yet part of our network. This may involve filling gaps in existing channels or establishing new ones. Additionally, this position is tasked with presenting GfK not merely as a point-of-sale service but as a comprehensive solution provider.

The acquisition team will identify clients' research budgets and needs, aiming to onboard data partners with revenue-generating contracts from the outset while facilitating discussions about broader research requirements.

Key Responsibilities of the Junior Consultant for Retail Partner Acquisition (m/f/d):

  • Initiate contact and build relationships with non-participating retailers or retail associations across various channels (including cold outreach methods);
  • Assess retailers' business needs and how GfK's solutions and Partner Program can assist them in making informed decisions;
  • Foster trust and demonstrate the value of GfK solutions, particularly our Retail Partnership Program;
  • Drive and support initiatives that enhance acquisition efforts (e.g., webinars on key retail trends, newsletters, etc.);
  • Maintain organized and precise records to manage the sales pipeline and opportunities (Salesforce);
  • Assist in negotiating and finalizing new partnership agreements across diverse retail channels in Germany;
  • Collaborate closely with Retail Partnership Teams, Market Insights, Operations, and external partners (e.g., IT, API providers) to ensure smooth onboarding of new partners;
  • Enable tailored data supply to ensure retailers gain maximum benefit from our partnerships;
  • Manage relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • Initial experience in consultative selling, business development, or key account management, preferably within retail, technology, or consulting sectors, with a strong focus on acquisition;
  • Ability to identify and comprehend client needs, motivations, and successfully address potential objections through trust-building and value demonstration;
  • Proficient in cold calling and utilizing various methods to engage targeted retailers;
  • Strong networking skills, comfortable interacting at all levels within client organizations, including senior management;
  • Results-oriented with a drive to meet and exceed key performance indicators (such as the number of retail partners recruited and leads generated for retail sales);
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and capable of seeing the broader picture while thinking creatively to solve problems;
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong proficiency in the German language;
  • Eagerness to learn and improve continuously, collaborating with a talented team to support better decision-making for our retail partners;
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality standards;
  • Willingness to travel as necessary within Germany;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (experience with Salesforce is advantageous).
