About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to join our Data Center Engineering Operations Team in Frankfurt. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers, including electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute preventative maintenance of equipment to ensure peak efficiency.
  • Perform daily corrective work and emergency response to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Manage large-scale projects, including new region support, from conception to completion.
  • Collaborate with external support groups, including engineering, automation, procurement, and finance, in local and global settings.
  • Develop and implement key milestones, obtain and track quotes for necessary costs, and document project results for future implementation.
About the Team

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Indepth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical room infrastructure.
  • Competent in use of basic IT programs, such as MS Word/Excel.
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills.
