DEPARTMENT
The Technical department oversees the Process Technology, Integrity, Reliability, Environmental Sustainability, and Quality Assurance for the entire SABIC facility. This department comprises six specialized teams with approximately 60 professionals.
JOB PURPOSE & RESPONSIBILITIES
In this pivotal role as Senior Engineer, Environmental Solutions, you will have the chance to make a significant impact by enhancing our Environmental Sustainability and Energy strategies. Your responsibilities will include ensuring optimal performance in these areas, spearheading long-term strategic asset enhancements, and conducting comprehensive studies. You will also play a crucial role in our management framework, particularly focusing on Environmental and Energy protocols, including aspects related to carbon trading. To achieve these objectives, you will collaborate with various stakeholders both within and outside the organization, including Environmental Health and Safety Services (EHSS), Operations, SABIC's Asset Technology Center (ATC), the Global Sustainability Network, and Technology & Innovation teams.
In your role, you will drive continuous advancements in Environmental Sustainability and Energy performance while ensuring adherence to all relevant management processes and legal standards. Your extensive technical, engineering, and regulatory knowledge in these domains, combined with your engaging and approachable demeanor, will enable you to contribute significantly to our sustainable business practices. The ideal candidate will possess substantial experience in Environmental Sustainability and Energy management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
The successful candidate will undertake a variety of tasks, ensuring compliance with Environmental Health and Safety Standards and regulatory requirements, including but not limited to:
Assisting operational units in achieving sustainability and energy objectives Enhancing site Energy and Sustainability performance by implementing corporate Work Processes Defining Key Performance Indicator (KPI) improvement initiatives for Energy, Greenhouse Gas (GHG), Water, and Material Efficiency, supporting the site in achieving significant cost reductions and environmental benefits Proactively identifying and developing opportunities for sustainability and energy enhancements to meet long-term corporate goals, including supporting the development of business cases for relevant projects Managing carbon trading activities Leading the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Committee Monitoring action items accordingly Developing and tracking actions from the Corporate Sustainability Roadmap in alignment with organizational systems and requirements Reporting on sustainability and energy performance for operational units as outlined in corporate Work Processes Promoting sustainability and energy awareness across the site, providing necessary training to all departments Demonstrating a strong understanding of site energy legislation and ensuring all activities comply with specific legal requirements Representing the site in regional and global Energy and Sustainability networks, sharing best practices and exploring improvement opportunities Leading or participating in technical audits and reviewsREQUIREMENTS
We welcome applications from candidates holding a Master’s degree or equivalent in Supply Engineering or a related field, ideally with 5 to 8 years of experience in Environmental Sustainability and Energy management.
