Embedded Systems Developer

Cubic Transportation Systems is seeking a skilled Embedded Systems Developer to join our team in Hamburg, Germany. As a key member of our mobile team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing embedded solutions, working on hardware-related tasks, and collaborating with our development team.
Key Responsibilities- Embedded Systems Development: Design and implement embedded solutions, including programming embedded devices, connecting or assembling hardware components, evaluating radio technologies, and writing technical specifications for suppliers and vendors.
- Technical Assistance: Provide technical assistance to other engineering functions within Cubic, including other developers and system testers.
- Reporting and Compliance: Report to the team leader on performance against timescales, specifications, and quality requirements, and identify any deviations from the plan and carry out corrective actions.
- Quality and Safety: Comply with Cubic's Quality Management System, Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment policies and procedures, and security policies and procedures.
- Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience or combination of both.
- Skills and Experience: Current knowledge of programming languages in the field of embedded development, including C, C++, Rust, Python, Java, or JavaScript/NodeJS; experience with Linux, preferably Yocto; experience with real-time operating systems; experience in electrically assembling components; ability to help with measurements of electrical or other quantities; at least basic knowledge of Java/JEE and/or other Java technologies; experience with UML for design and specification of software components; and fluent German language skills.
- Desirable Skills: Experienced in writing specifications for suppliers and vendors of hardware components; ability to organize or write reports, manuals, installation guides; test-driven development; Scrum or Kanban experience; GIT and SVN know-how; and good English language skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels in at least German and English.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Diligent, with attention to detail, able to problem-solve and find effective and timely resolutions.
- Teamwork and Self-Motivation: Ability to work as part of a team towards individual and shared goals, self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiatives and under pressure.
- Software Development Best Practices: Aware of software development best practices and able to apply standards and procedures effectively.
