Our Bremen site is a hub for research, development, and production, employing around 500 professionals dedicated to creating high-end measurement and analysis instruments, specifically mass spectrometers, that are utilized in scientific research worldwide. Our products in Life Sciences MS, Inorganic MS, and Trace Elemental Analysis are recognized as leaders in their respective markets.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Design Engineer to enhance our dynamic Life Science R&D department. In this position, you will leverage your expertise in developing mechanical components specifically for mass spectrometers. Your responsibilities will encompass the entire design process, from conceptualization to the creation of essential production documentation, ensuring a smooth transition to series production.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
1. Contribute to the design and development of intricate mechanical components and assemblies for high vacuum and ion optical systems.
2. Collaborate with a diverse, multinational team in our Bremen office, actively participating in product development teams and project planning.
3. Prepare production documentation and testing procedures to facilitate a seamless transfer to series production.
4. Engage in the installation and testing of mechanical components on mass spectrometers, ensuring product quality and functionality.
5. Conduct cost analysis for products and processes, providing critical insights for decision-making.
6. Support suppliers during their qualification processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
7. Participate in Change Management (ECO) and Quality Control during the product commercialization phase, emphasizing attention to detail and quality assurance.
Qualifications:
1. A university degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
2. Extensive experience in designing high-quality mechanical parts and assemblies within complex multi-component systems.
3. Strong understanding of Product Development Practices, Processes, and Tools, particularly in sophisticated analytical instruments.
4. Proficiency in 3-D solid modeling, with SolidWorks as a preferred tool.
5. Experience with low volume, high-value complex systems such as scientific instrumentation or medical devices.
6. In-depth knowledge of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, and materials.
7. Familiarity with 'should cost' analysis for mechanical components and assemblies.
