Role Overview
The primary responsibility of a Liaison / MRB Stress Engineer is to assess engineering dispositions from a stress perspective, ensuring compliance with strength requirements. This role involves conducting stress analyses, preparing substantiation documents for engineering decisions, and evaluating Non-Conformity Reports (NCRs). As a Liaison / MRB Stress Engineer, you play a vital role in our organization by reducing scrap parts and enabling their reuse, thereby contributing to cost efficiency while maintaining airworthiness and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute detailed sizing, static, dynamic, fatigue, damage tolerance, and modal analyses of repairs utilizing classical hand calculations, reverse engineering techniques, and finite element analysis.
- Collaborate with fellow Liaison / MRB Engineers, design teams, stress teams, airworthiness teams, and other relevant groups regarding product non-conformance management and repair development from a stress perspective.
- Review and validate dispositions for Non-Conformity Reports (NCR) from a stress standpoint, ensuring data compliance to provide adequate stress substantiation to the Liaison / MRB Team.
- Analyze load distribution, vibration, fatigue, thermal effects, and customer specifications.
- Ensure that repair activities align with airworthiness standards, quality specifications, and customer requirements in a cost-effective manner.
- Support allowable defect size determination activities and process documentation updates, considering stress requirements and defect occurrences.
- Participate in design activities during initial phases, focusing on repairability and stress requirements as needed.
- Contribute to the development of repair manuals that outline general processes and guidelines for repair implementation and standard methods.
- Foster positive relationships with both internal and external suppliers.
- Provide support to onsite and offsite suppliers as necessary in NCR evaluations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- A minimum of 7 years of professional experience as a Liaison / MRB Stress Engineer or Stress Engineer.
- Proven experience in non-conformity management, discrepancy evaluation, and stress analysis of both metallic and composite components.
- Background in repair design for metallic and composite structures at both detailed part and assembly levels.
- Familiarity with various high-performance composite manufacturing processes, their limitations, and post-processing of advanced composite components.
- Knowledge of repair stress analysis methods (classical techniques, hand calculations, FEM), structural design guidelines, composite lay-up operations, fasteners, loads, failure modes, materials, NDI methods, and corrosion prevention.
- Proficient in Patran / Nastran and/or Hyperworks.
- Experience in creating structural repair manuals.
- Ability to make prompt evaluations to prevent production delays.
- Results-oriented with strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, along with excellent communication abilities.
