We are seeking a highly motivated and outstanding researcher to join our team as a Research Assistant in Optimization. The successful candidate will be part of our Research Group on Nonsmooth Variational Problems and Operator Equations, led by Prof. Dr. Michael Hintermüller.

Job Description

The Research Assistant will work on optimization problems with partial differential equations and variational inequalities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mathematics, particularly in optimization and partial differential equations. Experience in non-smooth coupled systems, data-driven approaches, and numerical solution methods is highly desirable.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in optimization with partial differential equations and variational inequalities
  • Develop and implement numerical solution methods
  • Collaborate with the research group on interdisciplinary projects
  • Produce publications in international peer-reviewed journals and present results at conferences
  • Support students working on related projects
Requirements
  • PhD in Mathematics with a strong background in optimization and partial differential equations
  • Previous experience in at least one of the mentioned fields
  • Excellent knowledge of numerical solution methods and programming skills
  • Very good communication and teamwork skills
