Fluency in German is a prerequisite for this position, and familiarity with SAP or any ERP system is preferred. Candidates with knowledge of German accounting standards will be prioritized.

Fraser Hospitality is seeking a German-speaking Hotel Financial Controller to oversee our operations in Frankfurt and Hamburg, Germany. Based at Capri by Fraser in Frankfurt, you will manage daily accounting and financial activities while providing support to operational leaders across both locations. You will also be tasked with generating and submitting precise monthly Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for the hotels, adhering to strict monthly deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct daily financial reporting and operational tasks
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures
  • Oversee cash banking and secure cash floats in operation
  • Prepare bank reconciliations and manage bank clearing processes
  • Mentor junior finance staff within the hotel
  • Coordinate accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, forecasts, and variance analyses
  • Report under and comply with IFRS and German regulatory standards within statutory deadlines
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and prepare audit documentation
  • Analyze and interpret monthly results, key performance indicators, and departmental cost control
  • Assist Senior Management Accountant and General Managers with annual budgeting
  • Generate P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports for corporate reporting within strict timelines
  • Support property audits – both internal and external, along with other consultants and banks
  • Collaborate with the German finance team to share best practices
  • Prepare, submit, and settle VAT and City tax returns within required deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the German language – both written and spoken
  • This role is suitable for a part-qualified accountant
  • Demonstrable experience in financial management, preferably in the hospitality or service sector
  • Proven ability to communicate financial information to various stakeholders, particularly those without a financial background
  • Attention to detail with the capability to identify discrepancies and propose effective solutions
  • Strong systems skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • A personable, positive, and dynamic professional who works collaboratively to meet deadlines, demonstrating a proactive attitude
  • A disciplined approach to the production and documentation of work
