Risk professionals are responsible for executing essential daily risk management tasks, leading initiatives, and contributing to the continuous enhancement of a robust risk management framework. Effective collaboration with senior management, business units, control departments, and technology is vital for achieving success.
LIQUIDITY RISK MANAGEMENT
The Liquidity Risk function operates independently to identify, quantify, and manage the liquidity risks faced by the organization. We collaborate closely with Corporate Treasury, Controllers, Operations, Global Banking and Markets, Asset and Wealth Management Divisions, as well as the broader Risk organization to provide independent assessments and oversight of the firm’s liquidity risk profile.
Key responsibilities include:
- Stress Testing: Development of methodologies, creation and governance of models, review and approval of assumptions, and measurement of risk
- Regulatory Metrics and Advocacy: Interpretation of regulatory policies and rules, engagement with global regulators, calculation and disclosure of key regulatory metrics
- Risk Limit Governance: Establishing liquidity risk appetite, calibrating risk limits, approving limits frameworks, and ongoing monitoring of limit usage and remediation
- Analytics: Measurement, analysis, and reporting of risk metrics, development of platforms and tools for risk calculation and visualization, and governance of data quality controls
- Governance & Compliance Reviews: Continuous evaluation of adherence to key regulatory frameworks, assessments of new activities, engagement with key committees, and maintenance of essential policies and procedures
- Risk Oversight: Monitoring and governing various liquidity and funding activities, including cash management, funds transfer pricing, balance sheet utilization, liquidity projections, and liability management. Active engagement with risk-taking units to understand, monitor, and govern liquidity risk
- Direct engagement with Risk Leadership and global regulators regarding significant risks, current exposures, and governance of limits
- Collaborate with Liquidity Risk leadership to create and implement a comprehensive liquidity risk governance framework, monitor liquidity risks for European entities, and communicate these risks to various stakeholders
- Liaise with European regulators on liquidity risk matters, engage with regional regulators to clarify the firm’s risk posture, interpret rules, respond to data requests, and support advocacy discussions
- Participate in key regulatory initiatives such as ILAAP, contingency funding planning, and recovery strategies
- Monitor limit usage, manage breach remediation, and oversee escalation workflows
- Work closely with engineering teams to model liquidity risks under various stress scenarios; propose, calibrate, and implement suitable assumptions
- Engage directly with risk-taking units to understand strategies, assess new activities, enforce limits, comply with regulatory standards, and challenge proposals
- 5+ years of experience in capital markets, ideally in Risk, Treasury, funding-related, or regulatory roles. A strong interest in financial markets and risk management, driven by a desire for learning and continuous improvement
- In-depth understanding of European regulations related to liquidity; prior experience with regulators is preferred
- Ability to work autonomously, form independent judgments, provide insights, and drive change. Proactive with strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, capable of building relationships remotely
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proficiency in German is advantageous
- Capacity to interact with and build relationships across various departments and levels of seniority
