Job Responsibilities

This position plays a crucial role in the public safety framework by overseeing the daily operations of Security Supervisors, Corrections Officers, and Inmates within a correctional facility. The individual will supervise and evaluate staff during their assigned shifts to ensure a secure, safe, and efficient environment. Responsibilities include leading and mentoring team members, coordinating work schedules, and managing duty assignments for the shift.

Performance Management

The role involves contributing to the performance management system for staff, conducting regular inspections to uphold security, cleanliness, and order within the institution. The Lieutenant will engage with management, personnel, visitors, inmates, and the public to ensure smooth and secure operations.

Essential Qualifications

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Driver's License, and DCJS Certification. Considerable experience in corrections or law enforcement is required, along with a background in supervising correctional staff. Candidates should have experience in planning, scheduling, and organizing work, including timekeeping and duty roster management. A solid understanding of security practices and procedures is essential, as well as the ability to follow and provide clear oral and written instructions. Proficiency in the use of firearms, radio communication equipment, and physical control devices is also necessary.

Additional Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who are LEAD Graduates or possess equivalent experience and training. Familiarity with evidence-based practices and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, is advantageous.
