This role will report to the EWIS manager and will play a crucial part in the development of EWIS, particularly for Flight Test Instrumentation (FTI). The Senior Design Engineer - EWIS for FTI will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary project team responsible for the comprehensive development of Flight Test Instrumentation, from defining architecture to design, verification, certification, and aircraft delivery.
We seek to enhance our EWIS team with a senior-level expert capable of overseeing all design elements related to harnesses, assemblies, and components in both 2D and 3D, including schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings. This position also involves leading cross-functional initiatives such as quality assurance and supplier management. You will be accountable for the development of subsystems and components, ensuring adherence to certification and safety regulations.
- Assist in EWIS design efforts for FTI, focusing on harnesses, assemblies, and components.
- Create 2D designs, schematics, wiring diagrams, and harness definition documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to guarantee high-quality design outcomes.
- Contribute to the enhancement of EWIS and FTI processes, guidelines, and tools.
- Degree in a relevant engineering field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
- At least 4-6 years of experience in the aerospace sector, with a solid understanding of a Part 21J design organization.
- Expertise in electrical harness design and routing within the aerospace context is essential.
- Proficiency in electrical 2D drawing tools such as Capital Graphics and NX schematics is required. Familiarity with electrical 3D drawing tools like NX is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace standards and specifications, including AC43.13-1B, ATA chapter 20, ATA 100, S1000D, ARP4754A, and DO160, is advantageous.
- Experience in instrumentation design and routing in aerospace is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate design and manufacturing methods into product concepts and designs is necessary.
- Good understanding of harness routing and installation guidelines (e.g., redundancy, segregation, protection, bend radius, attachment, marking, etc.).
- Basic knowledge of PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is required.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is preferred.
- Fluent English language skills are essential; proficiency in German or other languages is beneficial.
