Senior Automotive Systems Application Engineer

SUMMARY
Located in the Qorvo office, the Senior Automotive Systems Application Engineer plays a pivotal role within the Automotive Connectivity Business Unit, specifically in the UWB Automotive group. This position is essential for the advancement and execution of Ultra-Wideband (UWB) software functionalities, frameworks, reference designs, and solutions tailored for Qorvo's automotive applications and associated products. The engineer will provide critical technical assistance to the BU's clientele, primarily automotive tier-1 suppliers, car manufacturers, and wireless module developers. Collaboration with Qorvo's central engineering and software development teams is key in this role. The engineer will aid clients in integrating Qorvo's UWB wireless technology into their automotive solutions, focusing on applications such as digital keys, precise localization systems, communication modules, and infotainment systems, thereby contributing to securing design wins and driving revenue growth for Qorvo.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver software technical support and expertise, particularly in embedded firmware, to Qorvo clients for UWB integrated circuits and solutions.
- Assist clients directly and indirectly through local sales, field application engineering teams, and partners in their software integration and development efforts.
- Conduct system-level testing of UWB integrated circuits, evaluation boards, and customer prototypes against relevant wireless standards, focusing on both physical and protocol layers.
- Develop proof of concepts and customer demonstrations.
- Occasionally contribute to the firmware development of UWB solutions.
- Support customer acquisition and enhance design win value.
- Engage with lead software architects and peers in the application engineering team for guidance and collaboration.
- Create high-quality technical documentation to enhance customer understanding of Qorvo technology and its optimal application in specific scenarios.
- Reproduce, analyze, and resolve technical issues encountered by customers in the lab to meet performance expectations.
- Participate in project follow-up meetings, both internal and external, including regular discussions with local teams and clients as necessary.
- Enhance Qorvo's UWB software expertise related to automotive applications and disseminate knowledge to other application teams globally.
- Provide training sessions and webinars to the broader organization.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant software engineering field.
- 10+ years of pertinent industry experience.
- Proficient in C/C++ programming, real-time environments, and embedded operating systems.
- Experience with software testing methodologies, including quality assurance and continuous integration.
- Skilled in embedded systems, digital technologies, and utilizing lab equipment such as RF spectrum analyzers and MAC protocol software analyzers.
- Hands-on experience with real-time firmware development and debugging on microcontroller and real-time operating system platforms.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with network MAC, security, and radio communication software layers (e.g., FiRa, CCC).
- Experience with CAN, NFC, and Secure Elements.
- Knowledge of AutoSAR and automotive software standards such as ASPICE and MISRA-C.
