Armament Technician

The Armament Technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing Army Prepositioned Stocks – 2 heavy weapon systems, including tank cannon, artillery, M242, and mortars. The successful candidate will determine the serviceability of weapons, sub-assemblies, and parts, diagnose and resolve failures using various diagnostic techniques and TMDE with minimal supervision. Additionally, the technician will mount and dismount turret and vehicle-mounted weapons as required, safely use common hand tools and shop equipment, and may instruct other employees in proper repair and maintenance procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate, computer-based records.
- Conduct and/or receive cross-training as directed.
- Perform daily timesheet and daily manning report, ensuring accuracy.
- Work in confined spaces/turrets as required.
- Perform Borescopes and Recoils on M109s, Howitzers, and M1 Abrams Tanks.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Mount and dismount weapons systems.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- 2-3 years' experience in military small arms and heavy ordnance repair.
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Meet and maintain all Logistic Information System (LIS) access requirements (Common Access Card).
- Military experience preferred.
- Formal training (Completion of US Army MOS 45K/USMC 2111 or NATO military organization equivalent course or civilian equivalent).
- Obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
- US Citizenship required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
- US Passport required.
- Experience using Global Combat Support System Army (GCSS-A).
- Experience using the Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Unique Logistics Support Applications (TULSA) and Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW).
- Speak, read, write, and understand English.
The Armament Technician will work alone, with and around others, verbal/face-to-face contact, inside/outside, extended days, confined areas, extreme heat/cold, temperature changes, wet and/or humid, noise, mechanical and electrical equipment, high places, fumes/odors, and dirt/dust.
May be required to deploy on missions on short notice at the direction of the PMO.
