Medical Waste Route Driver

Job Summary:
The Medical Waste Route Driver is a critical role at Stericycle, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of medical waste to processing facilities. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage assigned routes to ensure timely and accurate pickup of medical waste from customer locations.
- Transport waste from customer locations to Stericycle facilities, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Plan daily schedules based on customer needs, reviewing daily paperwork and following routing software route schedules.
- Unload trucks at various Stericycle and customer sites, ensuring waste is properly secured.
- Provide exceptional customer service, communicating any issues to the Transportation Manager or Dispatcher for resolution.
- Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and returned to the Transportation Supervisor or Dispatcher for processing.
- Communicate with Stericycle Transportation Supervisor and/or Dispatcher regarding any changes to route pickups or customer issues.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip maintenance on assigned trucks, reporting any maintenance problems to the Transportation/Dispatcher.
- Use ELD (electronic logging device) and Geotab to log hours in accordance with DOT guidelines.
Requirements:
- 6+ months of experience in driving shred/box trucks and route management.
- Valid standard driver's license (Class D or above) with an excellent driving record.
- Ability to obtain and retain a valid Medical Examiner Card (MED).
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand highway traffic signs and signals.
