About the role
As a Search Engineering Lead, your primary focus will be on optimizing the search experience for our users. You will prioritize the relevance of search results, ensuring that users can easily discover their preferred cuisines and items. You possess a strong background in applying technical expertise to address business challenges. As a strategic thinker with a solid grasp of engineering principles, you excel at clarifying ambiguous business issues. You are an engineering leader with a proven track record of guiding multidisciplinary teams to develop scalable solutions.

Your Mission
- Streamline the search experience for our users.
- Define and promote engineering excellence within the search team.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of team projects.
- Ensure reliable service and provide timely technical support to all stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Product, Analytics, and Data Science to shape the product roadmap.
- Support the career development of team members through ongoing coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of experience leading a cross-functional team as an Engineering Manager.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with Elasticsearch/Solr/Lucene and building scalable information retrieval systems.
- Strong understanding of search relevance, with experience in enhancing it through text and semantic matching algorithms and NLP techniques.
- Proficient coding skills in Java, with extensive experience in developing high-performance large-scale services. Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP and AWS is a plus.
- Able to navigate ambiguity to solve problems, breaking them down into manageable tasks and setting clear goals for the team.
- Effective communicator, capable of explaining complex concepts in simple terms to team members, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- A role model for other engineers, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and innovation.
- Proven ability in stakeholder management and building strong relationships, with a solid business understanding to inform engineering decisions.
