About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to join our Defence & Security team at IABG. As a System Engineer for Electro-Optical Systems, you will be responsible for the analysis, development, and implementation of complex electro-optical systems and sensor solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analysis of electro-optical sensors, such as target acquisition heads and tracking optics
  • Identification of capabilities and weaknesses of sensors and systems
  • Development of concepts for the development and application of tools for calculating and analyzing IR signatures and EO/IR scenarios
  • Evaluation of algorithms for image processing and target tracking (EO/IR tracking)
  • Planning, execution, and evaluation of national and international test campaigns and flight tests
  • Expansion of our software landscape together with the simulation team
  • Support of the public client in procurement, research, and development projects in the field of electro-optical systems and electronic warfare
Requirements
  • Successful completion of a degree in physics or electrical, telecommunications, or information technology, preferably with a focus on optics
  • Several years of practical experience in the fields of technical optics and image processing
  • Programming skills in C/C++, Python, Matlab, or Simulink, ideally also experience with VHDL or FPGA
  • Sound knowledge of physical modeling (optics, radiation physics)
  • Desirable knowledge of the principles of electronic warfare and the systems, organizations, and participating authorities of the German Armed Forces and NATO
  • Very good German and English language skills, willingness to undertake occasional business trips, and interest in growing together with the department or bringing forward this field of work actively
About the Team

You will be part of our Defence & Security team, a recognized technical service provider on national and international levels for the conception of solutions, analysis, development, and implementation of projects, and provision of services. Our team is dedicated to supporting the German Armed Forces in the conceptual design and deployment of EO self-protection systems and countermeasures on a technical level.
