Accounting Technician: Inmate Financial Services

Position Overview
This role is situated within a correctional facility and is dedicated to delivering financial assistance to the Business Office, with a primary focus on managing trust accounts for supervisees. Key responsibilities encompass processing, evaluating, and interpreting financial data to guarantee precision and adherence to established protocols, in addition to preparing and sustaining financial records and reports. All financial transactions must comply with the policies set forth by the Department of Corrections and the Department of Accounts.
Essential Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Competence in executing detailed tasks involving numerical data and performing precise mathematical computations
- Familiarity with fundamental bookkeeping and accounting principles
- Capability to generate standard financial reports and statements
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel
- Expertise in entering data into an automated database
- Strong communication abilities
- Aptitude for interpreting and adhering to operational instructions and guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates will possess a working knowledge of State Financial Programs, including CARDINAL, FAACS, Offender Trust, and Inmate Pay, along with an understanding of State travel regulations.
