We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team on a permanent basis. As a key member of our project management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our personnel and the public, while also adhering to relevant environmental, health and safety statutory provisions and legislation.
Key Responsibilities- Support the project management team and site health and safety lead in ensuring a safe working environment
- Adhere to the project and Winthrop Safety Management system, as well as relevant environmental, health and safety statutory provisions and legislation
- Review method statements, risk assessments, safe plans of action, and permits to work
- Ensure compliance with the project execution plan and good safety practices
- Conduct regular site audits and inspections, document results, and follow up on any corrective actions
- Maintain records of statutory inspections and make them available for project activities, tools, and plant
- Adopt a proactive approach to project EHS requirements
- Ensure project sub-contractors adhere to project and group EHS policies and procedures
- Coordinate, manage, and maintain Winthrop Technologies induction and training
- Compile and conduct toolbox talks, as necessary
- Assist or carry out accident investigation reports in a timely manner and ensure communication to Winthrop Technologies project management
- Maintain welfare and hygiene facilities, and ensure they are in place, managed, and maintained
- Attend daily activity briefings and whiteboard meetings
- Maintain waste reduction and recycling programs in line with project policies and procedures
- Relevant third-level degree qualification in Environmental, Health and Safety
- 3+ years' experience on large construction sites
- Thorough knowledge of current environmental, health and safety legislation
- Flexibility in working patterns where necessary
- Ability to efficiently manage all environmental, health and safety issues on site
- Strong communication and computer skills
