Firefighter and Rescue Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Firefighter and Rescue Specialist to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Firefighter and Rescue Specialist, you will be responsible for providing emergency response services to multiple sites within our Army installation, including fire fighting, hazardous material response, and related aid and rescue work.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to emergency situations, including fires, hazardous material spills, and other incidents
  • Operate firefighting equipment, including aerial ladders and rescue vehicles
  • Perform rescue operations, including lifting and carrying personnel
  • Work collaboratively with host nation fire departments and other emergency responders
Requirements:
  • Minimum of E&T Level I (completed lower secondary school / Hauptschulabschluss)
  • German certification as basic fire fighter (abgeschlossene Feuerwehrgrundausbildung, gemaess Feuerwehrdienstvorschrift 2 (FwDV2))
  • Completed training in accordance with the guidelines of the US Forces Fire Prevention Program
  • Host nation equivalent National Emergency Medical Technician (NEMT) certification
  • DoD certification as Firefighter I & II, Driver Operator Pumper, DOD HAZMAT operations, Host Nation SCBA certification (Ausbildung zum Atemschutzgeraetetraeger gem. FwDV 2), radio communicator training (Ausbildung zum Sprechfunker gem. FwDV2)
  • Valid host Nation certification to service and recharge fire extinguishers
Working Conditions:
  • Work on weekends and holidays as well as 24-hour shift work required
  • Occasional temporary duty travel (TDY) required
  • Heavy lifting up to 100 lbs required
