Job Description

The Employee Relations/Conduct team plays a crucial role in the overall success of State Street's human capital strategy. As an Employee Relations Consultant, AVP, you will provide expert support and advice to the business divisions and corporate functions throughout Germany, Switzerland and Austria, ensuring the effective management of internal and external Employee Relations (ER) matters and ER-related risks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the management of ER activities in Germany and lead on ER for Switzerland and Austria.
  • Identify, research and resolve complex employee relations issues in partnership with HRBPs, managers and employees.
  • Facilitate employee relations investigations (performance, sickness absence management, conduct, grievance, anti-harassment) and provide support and advice to investigating and hearing managers.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on employee relations and conduct matters, including legal, risk, compliance, etc.
  • Collaborate with and manage the different worker council bodies in Germany in close collaboration with the HR Country Head.
  • Provide a country view and guidance on respective local requirements with regards to global projects, initiatives and policies.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest ER practices and developments, understanding changes in legislation and implementing them as needed.
  • Work as part of the wider GHR team on global, regional and country-based GHR and/or business-related projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to think systemically and consult strategically with all levels of managers and leaders.
  • Good managerial courage, able to have effective critical conversations and diffuse high-tension situations.
  • Strong knowledge of employee relations and local law and regulations in Germany, including co-determination, and experience of other European countries.
  • Demonstrated success in collaborating and negotiating with worker council bodies.
  • Experience in working within global organizations and matrix structures.
  • Fluent verbal and written English.
