Postdoctoral Researcher in Neurobiology

Overview:
The laboratories led by Prof. Dr. Andreas Feigenspan and Prof. Dr. Johann Helmut Brandstätter are focused on exploring the mechanisms of synaptic transmission at the initial synapse of the visual system through a variety of approaches including anatomical, molecular biological, physiological, and computational methods.

Position Summary:
The Division of Animal Physiology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral researcher in neurobiology (m/f/d) to investigate synaptic processes within the mammalian retina.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engagement in electrophysiological and imaging experiments aligned with ongoing research initiatives.
- Integration of experimental data, analysis, and modeling.
- Instruction of undergraduate and graduate students through lab courses and lectures.
- Development of innovative research projects and securing funding.
Candidate Profile:
Essential Qualifications:
- PhD in natural sciences or life sciences, preferably with a focus on neurobiology.
- Fundamental understanding of neurophysiology.
- Proficiency in English.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in data analysis and programming skills (Python, R, Matlab).
Additional Information:
This position is initially funded for three years with the possibility of extension. Salary and benefits are aligned with public service positions in Germany (TV-L).
