Position Overview
Pfizer's Machine Learning Hub is on the lookout for a dedicated and innovative machine learning researcher to create and deploy cutting-edge machine learning solutions aimed at enhancing drug discovery processes. As a vital member of our Machine Learning Research team, you will develop novel methodologies to extract insights from both Pfizer's proprietary data and external datasets, generating testable hypotheses throughout the drug discovery journey, with an emphasis on deriving biological insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement sophisticated machine learning models tailored for the analysis of diverse biological data, including genomics, proteomics, and metabolomics.
- Enhance the internal machine learning technology stack to address challenges such as spurious correlations and the inherent complexity of biomedical data.
- Conduct research and develop algorithms for analytical challenges pertinent to drug discovery.
- Collaborate actively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Plan, execute, and assess experiments, interpreting results and communicating findings to scientists across various functions.
- Boost external visibility and scientific prestige by publishing and presenting research in esteemed journals and conferences, while engaging with the broader scientific community.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Biology, Computational Biology, Statistics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- PhD with a minimum of 2 years of relevant research experience in developing machine learning solutions, with a strong interest in computational life sciences.
- Proficient in managing, processing, and analyzing large heterogeneous biological datasets relevant to drug discovery.
- Demonstrated expertise in machine learning applications for computational biology.
- Creative thinker with exceptional problem-solving abilities to address complex analytical tasks efficiently.
- Strong publication history and significant contributions to the field.
- Proficient in ML libraries such as PyTorch, with excellent programming skills in Python. Familiarity with the Python scientific stack is advantageous.
- Experience with GPU computing, both on-premises and cloud-based.
- Fluent in version control systems and collaborative coding practices.
- Enthusiastic about data with a proven track record of transforming ideas from concept to implementation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations and data analyses. Relocation support may be available based on business needs.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $99,900.00 to $166,000.00. This role is also eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan, with a bonus target of 15.0% of the base salary, along with eligibility for our share-based long-term incentive program. We provide comprehensive benefits to support the well-being of our colleagues, including a 401(k) plan with matching contributions, paid time off, health benefits, and more.
