Position Overview: The Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) is seeking a dedicated researcher to contribute to the EULIAA project, focusing on the exploration of the mesosphere and lower thermosphere.
Research Focus: This role involves conducting innovative research in experimental atmospheric physics, particularly emphasizing optical remote sensing techniques that extend to the edge of space, covering the stratosphere, mesosphere, and lower thermosphere.
Collaborative Development: The successful candidate will engage in the development of new instruments and measurement methodologies in partnership with local industry stakeholders, all within the framework of the EU-funded EULIAA initiative.
Technical Expertise: Key responsibilities include working with compact lidar systems (VAHCOLI - Vertical And Horizontal Coverage by Lidar) and contributing to advancements in optics, including spectroscopy and laser physics. Additionally, involvement in building and additive manufacturing processes will be essential.
Software Development: The role also encompasses software development tasks related to lidar control and data analysis, which are crucial for complementing hardware advancements.
Qualifications: Candidates must possess a PhD in physics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, environmental sciences, or a related field. Experience with experimental methodologies, particularly in spectroscopy and laser physics, is required. Proficiency in programming languages such as Julia, Delphi, and C/C++ is also necessary.
