Position: Welding Expert / Supervisor

We invite you to become a part of our team at ST Extruded Products Group (STEP-G) as a Welding Expert / Supervisor (m/f/d). In this role, you will play a crucial part in the manufacturing of intricate large profile applications crafted from aluminum. Following comprehensive training, you will join our Profile Processing Team (PWB) dedicated to the Wagon and Rail Vehicle Construction sector. STEP-G is recognized globally as a premier manufacturer and supplier of aluminum extrusions and solutions. Collaborating with our clients, we create innovative lightweight solutions for various industries, including automotive, electromobility, and rail transport. Our Bonn facility houses one of the largest aluminum extrusion presses in Europe, boasting a capacity of 100 MN.

• Oversee the continuous production and welding operations
• Conduct visual and dimensional assessments of welds
• Execute VT1/2 and PT1/2 inspections along with dimensional measurements utilizing standard tools
• Record production and inspection outcomes
• Offer technical guidance, instructions, and support to team members during shifts
• Evaluate work results and engage in process optimizations

Qualifications:

• At least two years of vocational training (e.g., machine operator, metalworking specialist, mechanic, mechatronics technician)
• Certification as a Welding Specialist IWS / EWS or equivalent qualification as a Welding Master is mandatory
• Proven experience in welding and fabrication, particularly with aluminum assemblies, ideally in compliance with EN ISO 9606 Part 2 for aluminum and DIN EN ISO 14732 Operator Qualification
• Experience in welding for rail vehicle construction per DIN EN ISO is a plus
• Additional qualifications as a welder, especially in MIG and TIG welding
• Familiarity with VT&PT 1&2 inspections
• Willingness to work in a 2- or 3-shift system (generally weekends off)
• Strong safety awareness, quick adaptability, basic physical fitness, and excellent teamwork skills
