We are seeking a dedicated researcher for a Post-doctoral Fellowship focused on the Political Economy of Climate Strategies at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK).
Role Summary
This role aims to enhance our research capabilities in the realm of climate mitigation policies. The successful candidate will engage in a collaborative research initiative that investigates the political economy surrounding climate change-related risks and transformations.
Key Responsibilities
The selected individual will:
- Conduct in-depth research on the political economy of climate policies in developing nations.
- Utilize qualitative and quantitative methodologies to evaluate barriers to climate policy, such as vested interests and public acceptance.
- Explore governance issues related to energy transition minerals and coal sector transitions.
- Present findings at academic conferences and publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals.
- Assist in mentoring doctoral candidates and contribute to grant proposal writing.
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- A PhD in political science, sociology, environmental economics, or related disciplines.
- A willingness to undertake travel for fieldwork in non-European countries.
- Experience with data analysis tools (e.g., R or Python).
