Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Logistics Manager to lead our site logistics team at Covestro. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of our site logistics, including third-party logistics (3PL) contracts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the site logistics team and oversee the management of day-to-day operations, including 3PL contracts.
  • Manage the site's logistics operations, including raw material receipt, product filling, warehousing, and product dispatch.
  • Develop and implement long-term and short-term strategic and tactical logistics plans for our site and managed 3rd parties.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and cost requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety, reliability, productivity, and logistics asset management.
  • Collaborate with plant managers and Integrated Planning/Trading Clusters to support annual target production output without loss.
  • Manage exceptions and emergencies, and establish best practices for resilient logistics operations.
  • Ensure fulfillment of agreed KPIs, including safety, OTIF, logistics cost, inventory & stock accuracy, customer claims, productivity, and sustainability targets.
  • Take responsibility for managed 3PL contracts and ensure correct invoice control.
  • Report to the site manager organization and contribute to regional and global supply chain and logistics meetings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Chemistry, or Engineering.
  • At least 12 years of experience in chemical manufacturing operations and supply chain topics, with a focus on on-site logistics operations, transportation & warehouse management, LSP management, etc.
  • More than 5 years of management experience in leading a team in a line organization.
  • Solid knowledge of logistics 3PL- and contract management, and experience in developing and leveraging contractor relationships.
  • High flexibility and change management skills, with a track record of driving a high-performance and result-oriented culture.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to think strategically, prioritize, organize, deal with ambiguity, develop personnel, manage conflicts, and drive leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with S&OP and SAP/TMS/WMS.
  • Fluent skills in English and German.
