Role Overview
Key Responsibilities:
The Public Affairs Specialist will collaborate with the Director of Government Affairs for the DACH region to support the formulation and implementation of the regional Government Affairs strategy. This role encompasses:
- Monitoring and assessing political developments pertinent to Intuitive Surgical
- Crafting messaging and materials for diverse internal and external audiences, particularly policymakers and key influencers
- Executing communication and lobbying initiatives
- Identifying, engaging, and managing stakeholder relationships
- Conceptualizing, developing, and executing stakeholder meetings, events, and activities focused on policy at the company’s Berlin office
- Coordinating with public affairs agencies and project partners across the healthcare and health policy sectors
- Supporting government affairs and public policy initiatives in Austria and Switzerland
- Participating in meetings and conferences, with travel expected up to 20%.
Office Management Responsibilities
- Overseeing all office-related activities, ensuring ongoing administration aligns with the highest standards.
- Acting as the primary recipient of all security access tools and managing safety protocols, including fire safety procedures (electronic access devices, alarms, etc.), while implementing EHS guidelines as necessary.
- Managing contracts and purchase requisitions for ongoing supplies and assigned projects.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position, candidates must possess:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (economics, politics, healthcare)
- 2-4 years of professional experience in public affairs, healthcare, or a governmental context
- Exceptional organizational skills, particularly the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- A hands-on approach to event management with a proven track record of organizing events for large audiences
- The ability to articulate and communicate complex policies and issues clearly
- Strong policy-oriented writing and editing capabilities
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written
- The ability to work independently while coordinating with direct management, local organizations, and cross-functional global teams
- The capacity to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
- A general interest and experience in healthcare, science, and/or technology
- Previous experience in the medtech or pharmaceutical sectors, political or healthcare policy experience, and/or experience in an international or multi-country context are advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Fluency in both German and English
