Position OverviewCore Responsibilities:
The Public Affairs Specialist will collaborate with the Director of Government Affairs DACH to support the formulation and implementation of the regional Government Affairs strategy. This encompasses the creation of messaging and materials for diverse internal and external audiences, as well as the ongoing engagement and management of a personal network of stakeholders. Additionally, this role involves conceptualizing and overseeing policy-focused events and initiatives at the company’s Berlin office and other locations within the MEE region.
Key Duties:
- Monitor and assess political developments pertinent to Intuitive Surgical
- Craft messaging and materials for various internal and external audiences, particularly policymakers and influencers
- Implement communication and lobbying campaigns
- Identify, engage, and manage stakeholder relationships
- Conceptualize, develop, prepare, and execute stakeholder meetings, events, and activities focused on policy at the company’s Berlin office
- Coordinate with public affairs agencies and project partners across the healthcare and health policy sectors
- Support government affairs and public policy initiatives in Austria and Switzerland
- Participate in meetings and conferences, with travel expectations of up to 20%.
Berlin Office Responsibilities:
- Oversee all office-related activities, ensuring the ongoing administration of the office aligns with the highest standards.
- Act as the primary recipient of all security access tools and manage safety protocols, including fire contingencies and procedures (electronic access devices, alarms, etc.), implementing EHS guidelines as necessary.
- Manage contracts and purchase requisitions for ongoing supplies and assigned projects.
Required Skills and Experience:
To effectively fulfill the responsibilities of this position, the candidate must possess:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., economics, politics, healthcare)
- 2-4 years of professional experience in public affairs, healthcare, or government settings
- Exceptional organizational skills, particularly the ability to monitor and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A hands-on approach to event management with a proven track record of organizing events for large audiences
- The ability to articulate and clearly communicate complex policies and issues
- Superior writing and editing skills focused on policy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- The capability to work independently while coordinating with direct management, local organizations, and cross-functional global teams
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced matrix environment
- A general interest and experience in healthcare, science, and/or technology
- Previous experience in the medtech or pharmaceutical sectors, along with political or healthcare policy experience, and/or experience in an international/multi-country context is advantageous
- Proficiency in MS Office
- Fluency in German and English
- This position is based in Berlin, with travel expected to be around 20%.
