As a Principal in Policy and Government Affairs, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing a robust and effective strategy for government relations and policy advocacy across various governmental levels in the DACH region, with opportunities to engage at the EU level and beyond. This senior position reports directly to the Chief Policy Officer at Via.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initiate and nurture relationships with influential policymakers and their teams, ensuring that Via's policy perspectives are recognized at local, national, and EU levels.
- Formulate and advocate for Via's positions on relevant legislation and regulations that could affect our operations in specific markets, while also identifying policy-driven opportunities for business growth.
- Effectively represent Via's vision for urban improvement to the political and policy community, fostering partnerships with essential stakeholders, including NGOs, think tanks, and academic institutions.
- Produce official written materials such as op-eds, blog entries, policy proposals, and formal correspondence.
- Oversee engagements with public policy firms and consultants on targeted initiatives.
- Collaborate within formal and informal industry coalitions to advance shared interests.
- Represent the organization at policy conferences and other relevant forums.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
- A strategic thinker with the ability to manage multiple issues simultaneously, effectively addressing both immediate and long-term challenges.
- Results-driven and proactive, with a strong track record of achieving measurable outcomes.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey strategic objectives and a comprehensive understanding of government and political affairs.
- Experience in managing diverse stakeholder relationships across various countries.
- Ability to quickly familiarize yourself with new policy or geographic areas, identifying key issues and developing actionable strategies.
- Fluency in German is essential; proficiency in French and Italian is a plus.
