Regional Maintenance and Engineering Director

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) Manager to oversee our operations at Amazon. In this pivotal leadership position, you will be tasked with directing a team of RME Area Managers, Engineers, and Technicians to guarantee the reliability and maintainability of our systems and equipment across various locations in our German transportation network.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a diverse team of managers, maintenance technicians, and engineers to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all systems and equipment.
- Maintenance Management: Oversee the maintenance program for all equipment and systems, including the development of preventative maintenance plans and schedules.
- Failure Analysis: Identify and resolve equipment and system failures while implementing root cause analysis strategies to mitigate future issues.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside various teams to enhance equipment reliability, minimize downtime, and optimize performance.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the departmental budget, ensuring optimal resource utilization to achieve operational and financial objectives.
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and standards, including those related to environmental, health, and safety.
- Communication: Regularly update regional leadership, senior management, and stakeholders on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and improvement initiatives.
- New Systems Development: Contribute to the design and implementation of new equipment and systems, focusing on reliability and maintainability requirements.
- Regional Initiatives: Lead regional programs and initiatives, collaborating with other sites to identify and disseminate best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Extensive experience managing maintenance, service, or technical teams in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Proven expertise in reliability-centered maintenance practices and methodologies.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software and systems.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Excellent project management capabilities with the ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with senior management.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and cultivate a high-performing team.
- Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Fluency in both German and English (verbal and written).
- Master's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an MBA from a prestigious business school.
- Experience in a leadership capacity within a high-volume production environment.
- Proven track record in implementing Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement strategies.
- Experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments with a focus on customer satisfaction.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Familiarity with robotics and automation systems.
- Experience managing maintenance operations across multiple locations.
- Knowledge of German labor laws and regulations.
