We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the Leibniz-Institut für Zoo- und Wildtierforschung. The successful candidate will work on a project focused on the demographic resilience of wildlife populations, specifically developing and applying a new approach to quantify demographic resilience in the face of environmental changes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a population dynamics model to quantify demographic resilience in wildlife populations
  • Analyze and interpret data from long-term studies of spotted hyena populations in the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater
  • Collaborate with a PhD candidate and senior scientists to advance the project's goals and objectives
  • Contribute to the development of an R package for demographic resilience analysis
  • Present research findings at national conferences and symposia
Requirements:
  • PhD in population ecology, demography, biostatistics, ecology, biology, zoology, bioinformatics, or related fields
  • Strong experience in statistical analyses and programming in R
  • Background in population ecology, specifically population matrix models
  • Documented ability to publish peer-reviewed papers
  • Documented proficiency in English (oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
