Financial Management Accountant

CMC Markets is seeking a skilled Management Accountant to enhance our financial operations.

In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will play a key part in ensuring robust financial governance and control, alongside the meticulous preparation of timely and relevant financial and management reporting and analysis, supporting the core markets in which CMC operates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee an efficient financial month-end closing process, ensuring the timely and precise preparation and posting of manual journals, including accruals, prepayments, and transfer pricing, in accordance with the established Finance month-end schedule;
  • Contribute to the accuracy and integrity of the entity balance sheets by conducting monthly and quarterly reconciliations, and preparing supporting documentation;
  • Deliver financial insights to senior management across Finance and the Business by generating accurate and timely monthly management accounts, complete with variance analysis against forecasts and historical data, accompanied by insightful written commentary;
  • Collaborate with Office Heads in the Financial Planning and Analysis review, focusing on the evaluation and challenge of KPI metrics each month;
  • Support effective commercial and operational management by participating in monthly meetings with departmental senior managers to discuss results and identify key risks and opportunities;
  • Engage directly with Heads of Department and other senior stakeholders in the preparation and ongoing review of quarterly forecasts;
  • Facilitate a smooth year-end audit process by conducting advance audit planning, providing timely responses to external auditor inquiries, adhering to deliverables timelines, and maintaining positive relationships with external audit personnel;
  • Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements for major Group subsidiaries reporting under IFRS, as well as for any assigned branches with either IFRS or local reporting requirements;
  • Manage the requirements of ACCA/CIMA studies and ensure a structured approach to achieving the chosen qualification.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Part Qualified accountant, actively pursuing a professional qualification in Finance – ACA / ACCA / CIMA (full study support provided);
  • Prior experience in an accounting or finance role;
  • A strong desire to learn and advance;
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel;
  • A university degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics;
  • Experience in Financial Services or relevant sectors;
  • A solid understanding or demonstrable interest in financial markets;
  • Experience with finance systems such as Oracle Financials or Hyperion Financial Management.
