Job Description

Xiaomi Technology is seeking a visionary leader to head our Exterior Automotive Studio Design team. As the Head of Exterior Design Studio, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the design and development of the exterior aspects of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of exterior designers, modelers, and digital artists. Foster a collaborative and creative work environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
  • Design Direction and Vision: Establish and communicate the creative vision for exterior vehicle designs, ensuring alignment with the brand's identity and strategic goals. Oversee the development of design concepts from initial sketches through to final production.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of design elements.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Act as the primary liaison between the satellite studio and the main headquarters, ensuring consistent communication and alignment. Collaborate with other design teams, including interior design, color and materials, and user experience, to ensure cohesive vehicle design.
  • Quality Control and Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to company standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements. Implement quality control processes to maintain high standards of design excellence.
  • Innovation and Trend Analysis: Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in automotive design. Encourage the team to explore new materials, technologies, and design methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive design, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focusing on exterior design.
  • Skills: Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in exterior vehicle design and a proven track record of successful projects. Proficiency in design software such as Alias, CATIA, Adobe Creative Suite, and other relevant tools.
  • Competencies: Leadership and mentorship, creativity and innovation, technical skills, project management, communication, and strategic thinking.

Working Conditions:

  • Based in Munich studio with occasional travel to the main headquarters and other locations as required.
  • May involve extended hours to meet project deadlines and participate in design reviews.
