Director of Fulfillment Center Operations

Operations is the core of Amazon's success. This essential segment of our organization ensures that we efficiently fulfill and dispatch orders, guaranteeing timely delivery of items to our customers. It is led by Operations Managers who unite the team to promote excellence in safety, quality, and productivity across our facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and nurture a team of Area Managers.
- Lead operational teams during shifts, addressing challenges and positively influencing site performance.
- Evaluate shift performance against key business objectives and implement strategies to enhance operational excellence.
- Collaborate closely with various support teams, including HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security.
- Design and execute initiatives across sites to elevate operational performance.
A Day in the Life
In this role, you will manage shifts at one of our operational sites and serve as a vital link between multiple teams, including finance, safety, and operations integration. You will be engaged in the daily operations while also contributing to innovative strategies for improvement.
A typical day will involve:
- Meetings with different business areas.
- Analyzing performance and risk metrics for the sites.
- Preparing for varying levels of demand.
- Mentoring and coaching your team, providing leadership and support to help them excel as managers.
About the Team
The Amazon Transportation Service (ATS) team is crucial for our operational pace. As part of ATS, you will join a diverse group that plays a central role in our achievements. Utilizing air, sea, and road transport, along with sortation centers equipped with cutting-edge technology, you will help ensure maximum efficiency in Amazon's transportation operations. Our team leverages data to drive informed decisions, making Amazon more innovative and efficient while prioritizing safety and sustainability.
Basic Qualifications
- A university degree.
- Relevant experience in managing people and stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English and the local language.
- Experience in utilizing data or anecdotal evidence to influence business decisions.
- Experience in key areas of production and supply chains.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Experience in a similar logistics environment.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional context.
