Climate Finance Internship

Position Overview: The Partnering for Readiness (PfR) initiative is dedicated to assisting partner nations in strategically planning climate finance and gaining access to the Green Climate Fund (GCF). This effort aims to enhance the capacity of countries to establish frameworks for the independent execution of climate projects and achieve their climate objectives.
Role Responsibilities: As an intern, you will work under the supervision of a mentor and contribute to various tasks related to climate finance, particularly focusing on the GCF and its readiness program. Your support will be vital for colleagues engaged with partner countries and in the preparation and exchange of knowledge on critical topics, including:
- Direct access modalities of the GCF
- Climate finance accessibility for Small Island Developing States (SIDS)
- Transparency and integrity in financial resource management
- Green financial systems
- Training in climate finance
This internship will provide you with insights into the daily operations of the team, including participation in meetings and discussions, as well as planning and preparation activities.
Your Key Duties Will Include:
- Assisting in the development, execution, and reporting of activities related to GCF Readiness
- Supporting research and the creation of informational materials, such as documentation on GCF Board meetings and readiness program processes
- Managing information and communication
- Assisting in the organization and follow-up of workshops and working meetings
- Preparing presentations and meeting minutes
- Communicating GCF Readiness-related activities of GIZ through various internal and external channels
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a relevant academic program
- Knowledge in climate change, particularly in international climate finance and policy, adaptation, mitigation, or green financial systems
- Understanding of development cooperation principles
- Practical experience through internships or part-time roles, including international exposure
- Strong analytical skills, structured approach to work, and effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Ability to work autonomously, even under pressure
- Fluency in English; proficiency in French and/or Spanish is advantageous
- Proficient in standard MS Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Compensation: A monthly stipend of €2,134.52 (gross) will be provided.
