Head of Security Governance, Risk and Compliance

Rakuten Symphony collaborates with 1&1 to construct and operate the latest German mobile network, recognized as Europe's most advanced. We are developing a nationwide critical infrastructure using modern and highly automated technology. Security has been our top priority from the very beginning.
Your Role
We are in search of a Head of Security Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) to strengthen our team in Düsseldorf. In this position, you will establish an innovation-friendly security governance framework and ensure that your team meets regulatory and contractual requirements.
Your Responsibilities
- You will define, implement, and embody our GRC processes and security framework.
- You will be responsible for our Information Security Management System (ISMS) and collaborate with colleagues to address identified gaps.
- You will ensure that our approach aligns with Rakuten's global directives.
- You will take charge of planning and coordinating audits—both internal and external—related to ISO 27001, GDPR, and similar topics.
- You will support your Rakuten colleagues through training on security compliance and security awareness.
What You Should Bring
- Fluent proficiency in both German and English
- Extensive experience (5+ years) in security compliance and risk management
- Expert knowledge of security certifications, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, and data protection
- Experience in developing security awareness training programs
- Proficient interaction with stakeholders across different teams
- Strong interpersonal skills and a passion for guiding colleagues in cybersecurity
Additional Qualifications We Would Appreciate
- Experience in the telecommunications sector and critical infrastructures is a significant advantage
- Expertise in cloud architectures is also desirable
- Certifications such as IT Compliance Manager (ITCM), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) are beneficial
