About Syberry:

Syberry serves as a technological partner for a U.S.-based capital management firm, and we are in the process of establishing a dedicated engineering center in Europe. Our team is focused on constructing the technological framework essential for the operation of the company. This initiative represents a greenfield development project that primarily employs Python, Kotlin, React, and AWS as its core technology stack.

Position Overview:

We are on the lookout for a Senior Python Engineer to create a suite of tools for portfolio managers, enabling them to analyze financial data effectively and make informed decisions based on their findings.

About You:

  • Substantial engineering experience: A minimum of 5 years in software engineering is preferred, although we welcome challenges to this criterion.
  • Proficient in SQL and RDBMS: Capable of crafting queries for relational databases.
  • Skilled in API design and implementation: Familiar with best practices in API development.
  • Experienced with Docker: Able to write custom Dockerfiles.
  • Proficient in automated testing: Committed to ensuring code quality through testing.
  • Familiar with AWS or other cloud services: Knowledgeable in utilizing key services for computation, networking, and storage.
  • Strong mathematical foundation: A solid understanding of mathematics is essential.
  • Fluent in English: Required for daily communication with native speakers from the U.S.
  • Available until 7 PM CET at least three days a week: Our product team and end users operate in the Eastern Time Zone, necessitating some overlap for effective collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of finance: While deep expertise is not necessary, a general understanding of investment management, particularly in equities, back-testing, and financial simulations, is advantageous.
  • Statistics knowledge: A solid grasp of statistics is a significant plus.
  • Experience in client interaction: Proven ability to understand client needs and deliver comprehensive solutions.
  • Experience in engineering data pipelines: Familiarity with data pipeline engineering is beneficial.
  • Experience with web frameworks: Knowledge of Flask, FastAPI, or similar frameworks is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Kotlin or other backend languages: Experience in additional programming languages is appreciated.
