Cloud Infrastructure Solutions Engineer
In the realm of Computer Systems Management within the IT Infrastructure Division, the Cloud Infrastructure Solutions Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, advancement, and upkeep of system and infrastructure-level services (IaaS / PaaS layer). This includes the necessary industrial support and services to meet the defined service levels. The services encompass the provision of infrastructure and capacity through a hybrid cloud management system (HCMS) along with related accounting services.
This position will offer support on infrastructure and HCMS services to the teams tasked with system operations and service delivery to users, as well as assisting in the integration of new internal and external user projects utilizing IaaS/PaaS.
This role is particularly suited for individuals aiming to enhance their existing industry and cloud foundational experience, with the potential to evolve into a subject matter expert and further develop a career within this specialized field.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and sustain the on-premises hybrid cloud infrastructure, including capacity planning and the formulation/implementation of a roadmap for future developments;
- Manage relevant industrial support contracts;
- Design and maintain existing cloud infrastructure services based on evolving needs and requirements;
- Assist Operations/User Services in integrating new users and projects by providing expert guidance on cloud infrastructure usage;
- Offer technical support to other teams on OpenStack, VMware-based cloud infrastructure services, and cloud container management solutions;
- Automate routine processes and monitoring through industry-standard APIs.
Qualifications
A university degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science (Business), Software Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience in a Service Delivery role, preferably with cloud-based IT services in an operational and user-focused environment.
Language Proficiency
The official languages of EUMETSAT are English and French. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication skills in English and possess a basic understanding of French.
Employment Conditions
The initial contract will be for a duration of four years, with the possibility of subsequent five-year contracts based on individual performance and organizational needs. There are no limits on the number of follow-up contracts a staff member can receive until the EUMETSAT retirement age of 63, providing ample opportunities for a long-term career perspective at EUMETSAT.
