Product Legal Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Product Legal Specialist (German Speaker) , you will collaborate closely with various teams to launch products that exceed customer expectations. Reporting directly to the attorney overseeing product-related legal matters, you will address legal challenges in a manner that prioritizes commercial interests while minimizing risks, enabling the business to provide timely and high-quality products.
Some travel, both domestic and international, may be necessary.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee the open-source compliance program.
- Collaborate with marketing on communications related to products for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in managing the trademark portfolio.
- Draft and negotiate technology agreements, including inbound licenses and partnership contracts.
- Work with partnership teams to negotiate and document distribution agreements.
- Negotiate ancillary contracts, such as non-disclosure agreements, privacy agreements, and security agreements.
- Partner with internal business units and other legal team members to review DigiCert products, services, and initiatives for legal compliance.
- Negotiate related legal agreements and provide practical legal advice.
- Foster positive relationships with various business partners, including sales, marketing, product development, engineering, security, and support, advising them on legal matters throughout product development and marketing processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in German (both verbal and written) and professional working proficiency in English (essential).
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
- At least 2 years of experience negotiating contracts with DACH customers.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience negotiating commercial agreements.
- Strong business acumen, excellent problem-solving skills, and high emotional intelligence.
- Basic understanding of GDPR and data privacy regulations.
- Strong work ethic, proactive approach, accountability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects effectively.
- Adaptable and flexible, comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity.
- Eagerness to take on increased responsibilities as skills develop.
- This position may require up to 15% travel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- LLM (Master of Law) Degree from a German university.
- Experience at a leading regional, national, or international law firm or technology company.
- Previous experience in technology transactions.
- Familiarity with trademark law.
- Knowledge or experience in data security and privacy.
- Understanding of or experience in the website security industry.
