The DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute is a collaborative initiative established to foster exceptional translational cancer research, particularly in precision oncology, cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship.
The newly formed Division of "Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention" aims to connect scientific evidence with practical policy and implementation strategies in cancer prevention.
The selected candidate will spearhead the implementation and analysis of a research project focused on the geographic distribution of tobacco and alcohol outlets across the country. Responsibilities include publishing research findings in reputable journals, engaging in innovative knowledge dissemination strategies for key stakeholders, and contributing to grant proposal development. Opportunities to collaborate on additional policy and implementation research initiatives within the division will also be available. This position presents a unique chance to work alongside experts in cancer prevention, policymakers, and community stakeholders.
Candidate ProfileApplicants should possess both a Master's degree and a PhD in public health, social sciences, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for health research, along with proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical analysis tools, is essential. A strong interest in policy and implementation research, coupled with a commitment to bridging the gap between evidence and practice, is highly desirable. Some travel may be necessary to oversee data collection efforts. Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with proficiency in English, are required. Knowledge of German is advantageous but not mandatory.
