Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics

The Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics is a leading center for fusion research, developing the physical foundations for a future fusion power plant. We offer a position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Experimental Physics for Neutral Beam Injection at our Garching site.
Responsibilities:- Improved characterization of neutral beams using diagnostic information and integrated data analysis techniques
- Automation of data analysis to provide accurate beam characterization on a shot-to-shot basis
- Involvement in the broader ASDEX Upgrade physics program through own research proposals
- Participation in the daily operation of the NBI system and support of discharge proponents
- PhD in experimental physics or related field
- Background in plasma physics
- Proficiency in programming, ideally including Python
- Experience in integrated data analysis techniques
- Knowledge of neutral beam heating and current drive physics
- An interesting job at a leading research institute

The salary is based on the assignment of tasks and qualifications and goes up to pay group 13 according to the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD Bund).
